"Real advice from a real person… it was that lived experience that gave the book gravitas. Not the normal theoretical advice of the typical expert, but genuine advice off someone who had lived through a very difficult experience."

"The toolkit you need if your child is avoiding school! Get to the bottom of why and leave feeling equipped to deal with authorities and school in a more level-headed and diplomatic way."

"It has given me so much more confidence in the way I'm advocating for my daughter… so many 'OMG' moments reading it, and it's given me direction and practical actions I can put in place immediately."

About Julie

Education. Work. Enterprise. Different systems. The same question: what is getting in the way?

Julie A Milner · Author · Facilitator · Problem Solver

Julie A Milner is an author and facilitator based in North Wales. Her work spans education, work, enterprise and social business, but whatever the setting she comes back to two simple questions: what is getting in the way? And how do we make this work in real life?

Removing barriers to participation

Rooted in Wales. Reaching further.

Julie A Milner left school at 15 with no qualifications. She knows first-hand that where someone starts does not have to decide where they finish.

Her story is rooted in North Wales, through school, family, business and the barriers that appear when real life doesn't fit neatly into the boxes created for it.

Julie always had a knack for looking past the rules, processes and assumptions about how things should work and asking: how does this translate into real life? What are the barriers, and what could we do differently?

This approach took a small business started in North Wales into work across the UK and internationally, encompassing enterprise, education and employment.

The settings changed. The approach didn't.
Remove the noise. Find the real barrier. Make participation possible.

Today, the same thinking underlies Julie's work as an entrepreneur, author and facilitator: the value system of removing barriers to participation.
